After a bit of struggle on setting up LAMP on my laptop - Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron - [released in April 2008], posting to twitter from a web-app was a job accomplished in minutes.. Thanks to the existing twitter-php-lib. I would post the code once it is complete to be a very nicely behaving bot.
So, now I can successfully post updates to twitter.com/multiplethreads from my local m/c!
There is one part which is somehow not working, the one of following the followers automatically.. this would have to be done by polling.. and cron jobs should help. Let's c.. . would sort it out over the coming weekend :). Multiple Threads is all about that.. weekend codes, after work hour codes :) .
I know, there are loads of existing bots on twitter. But with what @andysc has done with connecting his house @andy_house,
I was pretty amazed at what all you could achieve.
I plan, to start with developing a horoscope bot, a machine bot for personal use, and something very similar to @andy_house. .. but with max. free-open-source software. Any more ideas ?
